About Us
Positive Pieces Education's mission is to influence the social and emotional well-being of children, teachers and parents in Australia and New Zealand. We work directly with schools, government departments and independent school districts to deliver the Second Step program.
In 2014, Positive Pieces was established to bring to Australian and New Zealand school communities contemporary, well-researched programs and educational resources that support children’s wellbeing and learning, providing valuable resources to educators and parents.
Our Team
Jenny Williams - Founder
Founder of Positive Pieces Education, Jenny Williams has a comprehensive background in Social Emotional Learning and has worked in this area to develop educators, students and parents for over 25 years. Her background in counselling, coupled with study in REBT and Positive Psychology sees her well-equipped to facilitate training for educators across Australia. Prior to forming Positive Pieces Education, Jenny headed up You Can Do It! Education and was instrumental in the growth and implementation of social-emotional wellbeing programs across Australia.
Stephanie Williams - Co-Founder
Co-Founder Stephanie, brings her knowledge and background in Human Resource Management to Positive Pieces Education. She is a Certified Six Seconds EQ Practitioner and Assessor; Six Seconds is the largest global organisation supporting the growth of emotional intelligence (EQ) by researching and disseminating effective tools and methods. Having worked in HR roles across a range of industries and sectors, Stephanie witnessed a gap of social-emotional skills in the workforce and decided to leave the corporate world to focus her efforts on the next generation.
Majella McNeese - Education Specialist
As a former educator, Majella brings specialised Second Step expertise to our team, having first taught the program to her students in Seattle before transitioning to the Education Partnerships team at Committee for Children (CFC) – creators of the Second Step program. In her role at CFC Majella expanded her expertise beyond teaching the classroom program, to working closely with schools and districts in developing a comprehensive, universal approach to implementing the program with fidelity. She has seen first-hand, the positive impact Second Step SEL has on students and the whole school community, and is passionate about helping schools around Australia equip their students with the essential social-emotional skills they need to navigate their way through this world.
International Partner
Since 1979, Committee for Children has advocated for policies to enhance, gathered research to support, and developed educational programs to advance the safety and well-being of children through social-emotional learning (SEL). Committee for Children are the authors of the innovative social-emotional learning curriculum, Second Step. Their programs blend research and rigor with intuitive design, empowering children with skills to help them realise their goals in the classroom and throughout their lives.
